SUACONA’S Environmental Committee
In 2020, SUACONA’s Chair, Evangeline Manjares, facilitated the creation of a committee that would be responsive to the environmental conservation program needs of the University.
Thus the Environmental Conservation and Sustainability Committee (ECSC) was created. It is composed of 11 members and chaired by SUAFSD’s Louella Dolar. The committee raises funds to help support highly-motivated graduate students, faculty, staff, and research affiliates at Silliman University pursuing studies and research on environmental conservation and sustainability. The funding is in the form of scholarship, dissertation, research, and travel grants administered by the University.
SUAFSD participated in SUACONA’s fund-raising effort by holding garage, bake and plant sales. Members donated various household items, clothes, plants, and baked goods for sale; some donated cash. The total funds raised was $1,600! Thank You, SUAF!
UPDATE: On April 22, 2023, SUAF had another plant sale and donated part of its income ($200) to ECSC.

Guy Hall Renovation
In response to Silliman’s need for more classrooms for the newly implemented Senior High School Program of the Department of Education, SUACONA, during the term of Betsy Jackson, raised funds to renovate Guy Hall in 2016-2017.
The renovation transformed what used to be the School of Music building into classrooms. SUAFSD participated the fundraising by holding a dinner dance under the consecutive terms of Dinah Peñaflorida and Louella Dolar as presidents. From the proceeds, SUAFSD donated $2,000 to the renovation via SUACONA.
